Score your recruitment agency out of 10, one department at a time
Most recruitment agency owners fix the department they enjoy working on. It is almost never the one costing them the year. Eighteen questions, five departments plus mindset, about six minutes. Your lowest score is your next project.
How to score
Score each question 0 to 10 on how well that part of your business runs right now. Answer for how it actually works this month, not how it works on a good week.
It does not happen, or it only happens when you personally do it.
It happens, inconsistently, and it still runs through you.
A system runs it and it keeps running when you are away.
Business Development
Whether new conversations start without you starting them.
1.How many targeted outreaches go out per day, and do they still go out when you are on holiday?
2.When a prospect replies with interest, how long before they are sitting in your diary?
3.What share of last quarter's new business came from somewhere other than referrals and repeat clients?
Sourcing
How fast a brief turns into a shortlist a client wants to read.
1.When you open a new role, how long before a shortlist is in front of the client?
2.How often is your own database the first place you look, rather than a job board or LinkedIn?
3.Can someone else run a search to your standard without you checking it?
Operations
What happens to the business when you step away from it.
1.If you disappeared for two weeks, what breaks first?
2.How much of your week goes on admin that is not talking to clients or candidates?
3.An hour after a client call ends, where does the record of it live?
Authority
Whether anyone arrives already knowing who you are.
1.How many inbound conversations did your content start in the last 90 days?
2.How many times did you publish anything at all in the last 30 days?
3.When a client looks you up before a call, what do they find?
Productization
Whether you sell a thing with a price, or quote from memory.
1.What percentage of your revenue is retained rather than contingent?
2.Can you state your fee and what it buys without checking what the last client paid?
3.How many different things are you selling right now?
Mindset
The one nobody scores honestly the first time.
1.When did you last take five days off without opening Slack?
2.What is the thing you knew six months ago you should fix, and still have not?
3.How many hours this week went into building the business rather than running it?
